Rug Doctor Carpet Cleaner Tips

You can rent the rug doctor carpet cleaner in many supermarkets and in many Home and Garden department stores. The following paragraphs provide some tips on the proper using of the rug doctor carpet cleaner.

Buying or Renting the Rug Doctor?

The Rug Doctor can be purchased for under $700. Renting the rug doctor for a weekend will cost roughly $30. Whether you own the machine or rent it, you will need to buy the Rug Doctor special cleaning solution and if you have bad stain spots you will also need the special spot remove handler. Both will cost around $10 per one cleaning cycle. Try to rent the rug doctor carpet cleaner once or twice and use it to see whether buying is justified.

Rug Doctor Cleaner Use a Water Solution

Rug doctor cleaners are working on a water extraction methods. The manufacturer recommend “Do not use or place the Rug Doctor machine or cleaning products on: Natural fiber oriental rugs (silk or wool), hand-loomed wool rugs, braided rugs, sisal or jute carpets; hardwood or laminate flooring.” The rug doctor is however safe for synthetic rugs and carpets

Before You Start

Before you start to use the machine, there are preliminary steps to complete. It is highly recommended to rake the area rug (or carpet) using a carpet rake. Raking will release dust particles that hide in the fiber. Next, vacuum clean the rug to absorb the dust. Look for stains and other carpet issues and pre-treat with the recommended Rug Doctor special cleaning products. Read the instructions on the special pre-treat container and follow the specific instructions of the manufacturer. To raise your confidence level, apply the pre-treat material in a hidden corner of the rug to see whether a discoloration is observable. This way discoloration can be avoided.

Using the Rug Doctor Cleaner

After the preparatory steps, the actual rug cleaning can be rolled. Take the rug doctor cleaner to the rug or carpet. Mix water and rug doctor cleaning solution in the proper proportion as recommended on the bottle of the cleaning solution.
Remove the dirty water white container off the top of the machine. Fill the solution you have prepared in the red compartment. (Removing the white container exposed the red container). Fill the red compartment to midpoint and then place back the white container and make sure it is properly secured.
You can now start the actual cleaning. Follow the instructions on the side of the cleaner. Go backwards slowly, overlap from track to track and watch the white container filled up with dirty water. For more detailed tips resort to the to the manufacturer rug doctor carpet cleaner tips
