Nautical, Marine and the Lighthouse Theme

The Lighthouse of Alexandria was a lighthouse built between 280 and 247 BC on the island of the Pharos in Alexandria, Egypt.
It towered to an estimated height of 450 feet (135 meters), it was considered one of the 7 wonders of the Ancient World, and was one of the ancient world tallest building. Lighthouses have always attracted people, as a distinctive scenic monument on the beach sending signals to the sea.

No wonder the lighthouse theme is popular on area rugs, and the lighthouse motif is used over and over in paintings, photography, poetry and in the film industry.

The theme usually comes in blue hues, and is often accompanied by other related themes, such as sailboats on blue waters, anchors and marine life creatures.
